Title printed in blue and black, introductory sonnet by Algernon Charles Swinburne, 8 engraved plates by John Buckland Wright, printed on Van Gelder paper in Perpetua type (first plate [frontispiece] lightly offset onto title). Original vellum-backed blue cloth boards by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, spine lettered in gilt with the publisher's cockerel motif stamped in gilt at the foot, top edges gilt, others uncut. Provenance: Anthony Eden, 1st Earl of Avon (modern armorial bookplate loosely-inserted).
