With The Measuring of Land, and Gauging of Vessels. Also, the Fairs and Roads in England and Wales. London: Printed by M. F. for the Company of Stationers, 1683 [bound with:] "Cardanus RIDER" [i.e. pseudonym, and near anagram, of Richard SAUNDERS (b. 1613)].  Rider's British Merlin: Bedect with Many delightful Varieties and useful Verities ... With Notes of Husbandry, Physick, Faires, and Marts. London: Printed by Tho. Newcomb, 1683. 2 works bound in one volume, tall 12mo (167 x 70mm). Text within single rule border throughout, printed in red and black, woodcut illustration, tables (many leaves extended at lower margins to fit the binding, some light spotting). Contemporary vellum gilt with flap, pockets, gilt edges, marbled endpapers (remnants of metal clasp, some staining). Provenance: old annotation to head of verso of front free endpaper and in pencil to lower margins of a few leaves; 3-page autograph letter from Susannah Hawes to Miss [?]Duncomb dated July 12th [?]1829 loosely-inserted in rear pocket; from the Collection of the late Professor Bernard Nevill (1930-2019).
