ALBUM, INDIA - An album of c.250 albumen photographs relating to the Burnaby family, many of Indian subjects, various sizes, including a number of larger, full-page photographs captioned, for example, "The Fort, Main Guard, Bangalore, October 1864," "'Salar Jung's' elephants", "Lake and Temple, Hyderabad, the Property of Salar Jung", "The Bund", "C. B. Saunders. C.B. 'Resident Hydrabad' & Sir 'Salar Jung', K.S.J. and Suite", "Ootacamund", and others, many small portraits, including one of Alfred, Lord Tennyson inscribed "Alfred Tennyson" in ink beneath, and photographs taken at various other locations including Langford Hall, Nottinghamshire (the Burnaby Family Residence), Newark-on-Trent, Leicester etc. (some leaves and photographs detached and one torn with loss, some staining and fading to photographs), contained in a contemporary red morocco album with the initials "E.B.B." stamped in gilt on the upper cover, gilt edges, folio (340 x 260mm.), c. 1860s. Provenance: "E. B. Burnaby. From His Affectionate Sister E. S. Dawson. October, 1865" (green morocco label laid down on front pastedown).
