Half title, coloured frontispiece, illustration on title, and 26 full-page coloured illustrations by Beatrix Potter. Original green paper boards lettered in white with coloured pictorial label by Beatrix Potter mounted on the upper over, pictorial endpapers (small piece torn away from head of spine without loss of letters, joints split). Provenance: "G. Mabel Rose, Oxford 1908" (inscription on front free endpaper). FIRST EDITION, first, second or third issue [which are identical], with the year of publication on the front of the title page. Linder p.427; Quinby 14.
