Pietro Masulli, an Neapolitan 19th Century sculptor and foundeur, put into practice the idea of copying ancient works of art to a high standard following the footsteps of Cellini. he founded an art school and later endowed the city with the two art galleries for ancient art in the Galleria Principe di Napoli and in the Piazza dei Martiri. After his death, his pupil Gennaro Chiurzazzi, established the disbanded foundry under the name Fonderia Chiurazzi in 1870.
