In 1735 Elizabeth, widow of gunsmith Cornelius Muzzell, married John Inkpen, a Horsham clockmaker. Her two sons by her first marriage took up the profession. A tavern clock by her first son, John (1730-1789) is in the Horsham Museum.
Cornelius II continued the tradition and worked in West Street, Horsham in the 1790s. A longcase by him is in the Horsham Museum Library.
Condition Report:
1 winding key. 5 case keys. 1 pendulum locked to the movement.
The clock is in good condition. The case has been repolished. The movement appears to be clean and kept in good order, although we cannot comment if it runs. The strike work works.
