Original dark green pictorial buckram gilt with an illustration of Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh stamped in gilt on the upper cover, top edges gilt, others uncut, map endpapers (without the dust-jacket, tiny faint scuff marks to the head and middle of the spine, some very light browning to the endpapers). Provenance: "E. L. C. Xmas 1926 from N. C." (very small, neat inscription at the top right-hand corner of the front free endpaper). AN EXCEPTIONALLY FINE, BRIGHT COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. With the same author's The House at Pooh Corner (London, 1928, 8vo, illustrations by E. H. The second book has 2 publisher's flyers loosely-inserted, the first an announcement of an exhibition of Shepard's original drawings for "The House at Pooh Corner" to be held at The Sporting Gallery, London, from November-December 1928; the second, an advertisement for "The Christopher Robin Calendar, 1929".
