Titles and sectional headings printed in red and black, 107 tinted photogravure plates, 3 smaller illustrations. Original half vellum and dark blue buckram gilt, top edges gilt, others uncut. Provenance: From the Collection of Wilfrid Ward. FIRST EDITION. NUMBER 3 OF 100 COPIES PRINTED FOR PRIVATE CIRCULATION AND SIGNED BY R. L. SCOTT BENEATH THE INTRODUCTION. The catalogue contains relevant bibliographies, as stated in Scott's introduction: "The list of books appended at the end of each section of this catalogue, and relating to the branch of arms specially referred to, makes no pretence of being a complete bibliography of the subjects, but is merely a list of those books of which copies exist with the collection."
