Original black cloth, spine lettered in silver, dust-jacket designed by Eric Ayers with price of 21s. unclipped (lower wrapper torn with some loss of letters, pieces torn away from head and foot of backstrip without loss of letters, some fraying and creasing). Provenance: from the Collection of the late Leslie Waddington (1934-2015) and thence by descent; pencil annotation to pastedowns. FIRST U.K. EDITION of the Russian-American author's succès de scandale. The work was first published, in wrappers, by The Olympia Press in Paris in 1955. cf.
