Original vellum-backed paper boards, the upper cover with letters in gilt suspended from a hanging pub sign, the spine lettered in gilt, top edges gilt, others uncut (some staining mainly to the upper cover, corners rubbed and bumped). Cecil Aldin's attractive colour plates include illustrations of three venerable Sussex inns, "The Spread Eagle" in Midhurst, "The Star" in Alfriston and "The Mermaid" in Rye.
