ANGLING - Charles BOWLKER (dates unknown) [& Richard BOWLKER (dates unknown)].  The Art of Angling, Containing Directions for Fly-Fishing, Trolling, Bottom Fishing, Making Artificial Flies, &c. Ludlow: "Printed and Sold by Richard Jones," 1839. 8vo (172 x 105mm). Half titles, hand-coloured engraved frontispiece of flies, wood-engraved illustrations (some light staining). Original decorated and pictorial paper boards (joints split, some light staining, inner hinges split). Provenance: "W. L. Addison, 18/10/[19]33" (signature on front free endpaper). This classic angling treatise was originally published under Charles Bowlker's father's name, Richard Bowlker, in Worcester in c.1746. All future editions, including this one, were published under his son's name alone. RARE. cf. Westwood & Satchell pp.39-40. With Izaak Walton & Charles Cotton's The Compleat Angler ...
