Original cloth-backed coloured pictorial paper boards by Nicholson, red edges (extremities rubbed, lightly browned. inner hinges weak). Provenance: The Property of the late Tamara Lo (small label on front free endpaper); "To Tamara, in the hope that from these 26 letters she will (one day!) learn to spell. With love from Michael, Christmas 1950" (manuscript note on blue paper pasted onto the front free endpaper, possibly in the hand of the children's author Michael Bond).
