[LACROIX, Paul (1806-84, attributed)].  Histoire de la Prostitution chez tous les Peuples du Monde depuis l' Antiquité la plus Reculée jusqu'a nos Jours, par Pierre Dufour [i.e. a psuedonym]. Brussels: Librairie Universelle de J. Rozez, [?1851-54]. 8 volumes, 8vo (172 x 110mm). Engraved frontispiece and plates (occasional light spotting and staining). Contemporary half black calf, spines gilt with red morocco lettering-pieces (spines heavily rubbed and scuffed). Provenance: The Property of the late Tamara Lo (small modern label on front pastedown); residue of the removal of an older bookplate. [?]FIRST EDITION. The work is most commonly attributed to Paul Lacroix; the British Library, however, has two copies, one of which it attributes to Lacroix, the other to P. L. Jacob (1806-84). (8)
