Coloured lithographed frontispiece and additional coloured title, 12 coloured plates, wood-engraved illustrations (some staining to the edge of the frontispiece, the additional coloured title browned mainly at edges, some light spotting and staining). Contemporary red calf gilt, spine gilt in compartments with green morocco lettering-piece, gilt edges, marbled endpapers (rubbed and scuffed, some scratching, corners bumped, upper inner hinges reinforced). Provenance: The Property of the late Frank Graham (1913-2006, modern bookplate), and thence by descent. FIRST EDITION of the most famous and influential cookery book of the 19th-century which also includes sections on the duties of domestic servants, the rearing of children, and medical and legal matters.
