ALBUM, satirical, relating to the Northumberland Election of 1826, oblong 4to (290 x 455mm), comprising 6 etched plates of horse racing, each captioned "Northumberland Races 1826", and sub-captioned "County Plate" (3), "Members Plate", "The memorable Contest between Bonny Pit Lad, Sprig of Talent, Slim Harry and Tom Dross"; with additional printed sheets laid down (in no obvious order) stating, "Northumberland Election. State of the Poll" [etc]; "Chronicles of Northumberland" (printed by Stephenson in Gateshead); including further plates captioned "Proceeding to Alnwick, 1826", "Northumbria weighing the claims of her Candidature, 1826"; "An Electioneering Recruiting Party"; "Turn up among the Torys"; "Going to the Northumberland Election, 1826"; "The Northumberland Pedestrians!!!", "County Meeting and Race from Morpeth to Alnwick"; "The Confessional or Lord Lion Heart"; "Wings Dressed and Trimm'd in the Real Independent Fashion by Mr White"; "The Durham on his Freehold"; "L....LL and B.....nt's Patent Machine for Splitting Plumpers"; "Liddell and Independence!!!", "Real Independence alias Reelingdependence"; and "State of the Poll At the Close of the memorable Contest of Northumberland"; partly disbound in contemporary black half calf (rubbed, worn).
