'Modernista' is associated with the Renaissance of Catalan arts in the late 19th and early 20th Century, particularly the architecture of Barcelona. The most prominent architect of this period was, of course, Antoni Gaudi. Stylistically Modernista drew parallels with the Art Nouveau movement, but also embraced and combined Gothic and Arabic decorative patterns and features, as seen in these candlesticks.
