Possibly English folk art or ‘Sailor Art’, each individually carved as characters including a monk, a pair of standing female and male figures, a judge, a grinning figure and four others, some with inset glass eyes, the female figure, 26 cm high

These figures have belonged to the vendor’s family since at least the 1920’s and were kept at the family estate in Beetham, Cumbria until it was sold in 2004.
