The hinged lid and the sides decorated with the Hindu god Garuda within a foliate border to the lid, probably Burmese or Indian but bearing Chinese character marks, wooden lined within. Size 21cm x 12.5cm x 7.5cm.
Estimate: | £400 - £500 |
Hammer price: | £400 |
Condition Report: Chip to the front of the inner wooden lining. Some staining to the wooden lining. Exterior good condition. No major dents. Lid closes properly. Would benefit from cleaning. The current purpose of the box is for cigars or cigarettes, for it to be used as a jewellery box it would be necessary to line it with a soft textile material so that the jewellery contained within would have some protection.
