With square back and shallow sabre supports, 70cm wide; 100cm high
Estimate: | £150 - £200 |
Hammer price: | £180 |
Condition report:
Originally caned, later rails to the inside of the seat and upholstered. Stamped ‘W” to the front rail.
Brass capped castors: one glue repaired and generally tarnished and dirty.
The frame: general scuffs, wear, knocks and general wear commensurate with use and age.
The later upholstery: pink velvet covering worn and dirty with the edging to the back coming over. Dirt and dust to button down loose seat cushion and back.
The weight of the frame, timber and general thin structure would suggest that the chair dates from the late 19th century.
