A VICTORIAN OFFICER’S FORAGE CAP OF THE 22ND (CHESHIRE) REGIMENT
Circa 1880–1900
With dark blue cloth body and polished black peak, the front applied with gilt and silvered regimental badge featuring the Prince of Wales’s feathers above a coronet and scrolls reading ICH DIEN and II ROYAL CHESHIRE, with silver lace trim and lion mask side bosses with rings. The interior quilted and lined in purple silk, with maker’s label of Smalpage & Son, Military Outfitters, 43 Maddox St, New Bond St, W., housed in its original green-papered hat box
