A VICTORIAN 1897 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER’S SWORD BY WILKINSON, NO. 15393 FOR 1898
The regulation steel bowl guard pierced and engraved with crowned VR cypher, retaining its shagreen-covered grip bound with silver wire and complete with leather sword knot; the single-edged blade of typical form, fullered and etched with scrolling foliage, Royal cypher, and inscribed “4th W. Y. Regiment from C.A. 1898” on one side, and “Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London” to the other; housed in its polished steel scabbard with twin suspension rings, overall length 107cm
