George Henry Byng, 3rd Earl of Strafford (1830-1898) was a politician known as Viscount Enfield. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church Oxford. He was MP for Tavistock 1852-57 when he became MP for Middlesex. During this time he was also Parliamentary Secretary to the Poor Law Board 1865-66, and Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs from 1871-74. Throughout his political career, Lord Enfield served with the Middlesex Militia. He was the first President of the Middlesex County Cricket Club 1866-76, serving again from 1877-98. He was Lord Lieutenant of Middlesex 1884-88. He inherited his father’s earldom in 1886 and dying childless, his titles passed to his brother, Henry.
