Condition report
Canvas relined; craquelure pattern throughout; surface abrasions and paint loss, upper right within the painted oval, centre to child's chest, lower right near the Virgin's left hand, lower left, on the outline of the painted oval; paint surface is  thin in some areas; paint loss to frame abrasions on each border; ultraviolet reveals traces of old retouching to the background within the painted oval however a thick, uneven varnish prevents a conclusive reading.
