Original canvas; traces of a stretcher bar, lower centre and scuffing to paint surface on the boy's wrist ; a tiny fleck of paint loss, upper centre; impression to the canvas, upper right; some frame abrasions to each border, flecks of surface dirt, upper left; ultraviolet reveals no sign of retouching.
