Condition Report
The canvas has been relined. There is a vertical line approximately one third of the way across the canvas off the left border which is either a repair or extension to the canvas; accompanying retouching visible to the naked eye. Areas of craquelure throughout along with frame and surface abrasions, particularly to the borders; also areas of uneven varnish, probably due to previous cleaning. Ultraviolet reveals traces of retouching to the aforementioned line, further specks to the sitter's face, hands and table cloth, however the layers of varnish prevent a comprehensive reading. Held in a later frame in fair condition.
