Condition Report
The canvas has been relined and re-stretched.  There is a horizontal crease running the width of the canvas in the upper quarter of the work, possibly from a previous reduced stretching and framing.  There is a minor surface abrasion, lower right.  Otherwise the paint surface appears to be in sound condition overall.  Ultraviolet light reveals scattered flecks of infilling to the Turkey's tail feathers, around the jay and bullfinch and further areas to the background and foreground; this has been well executed.  To the naked eye the signature may have been strengthened although it does not flouresce under ultraviolet light.  Held in a later plaster gilt frame with a few chips to the giltwork.
