Condition Report

The panel has been cradled.  The panel is uneven from two repaired splits running vertically from the upper border, these have been well executed and are holding the panel stable.  Traces of craquelure and the grain of the wood are visible throughout the paint surface.  Ultraviolet reveals infilling to craquelure around the angel in the sky, to the clouds, upper left and to the St Catherine's face; some further patches of retouching to  frame abrasions. Held in a plaster gilt frame with some chips to the mouldings.
