Footnote
Marguerite Vacani founded the Vacani School of Dance in 1915, which taught dancing and social etiquette. Pupils were
taught the ballroom dances of the day and debutante ladies learned the curtsy
needed when presented at court. Madame Vacani held private classes for the Royal Princesses, Elizabeth and Margaret Rose, and later Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
Marguerite was succeeded by Pauline's daughter Betty. Betty continued the royal patronage, helping with the wartime pantomimes in Windsor castle and giving classes to Prince Charles and Princess Anne. The present work hung for many years in the Vacani dance studio in Knightsbridge.
