Demetre Chiparus is one of the most renowned sculptors of 20th Century interwar period, inspired hugely by the art of the dance seen through the Ballet Russes and French Theatre of the Roaring Twenties. His sculptures embody the spirit of the Art Deco era, celebrating this new liberation of women - the 'Beach Dancer' is a perfect example.
