19th Century
Of ovoid from, mounted on a black slate base and later gilt-metal mounted, 25.5cm high
Estimate: | £1,000 - £1,500 |
Hammer price: | £1,000 |
Condition report:
The blue john specimen is with a few flaws and a diagonally running around running down the body which has been slightly touched over with a composite material. See the additional photos, especially image 5 & 6.
The gilt-metal base is probably a re-purposed gallery from another object with the finishing and gilding apparent to the underside.
The finial mount and actual urn finial are associated.
A few small chips to the black slate plinth.
Discolouration and oxidisation to the gilding of the base and where it joins the slate plinth. Dirt and dust.
