KENNEDY, John F. (1917-63, 35th President of the United States of America). A monochrome photograph, SIGNED "John Kennedy" in blue ink, of the President and Jackie Kennedy descending the steps of a Pan Am aircraft having landed at 'London Airport'; the photograph contained in a red silk window mount, image size 190 x 147mm. On the verso of the mount, a printed note states: "President Kennedy and Wife arrive in London. This evening following his week-end talks in Vienna with Mr. Kruschev [sic]. 4.6.1961." Provenance: Formerly in the Collection of Mikhail Klimov, Moscow; thence to the present owner. Following a very difficult and inconclusive summit in Vienna on June 4, 1961 with Nikita Kruschchev, First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, President Kennedy and his 'First Lady' paid a flying visit to London where, in a crowded schedule, they met with and spoke to staff at the American Embassy, had talks with Prime Minister Harold Macmillan at Admiralty House, managed to fit in a christening of Jacqueline Kennedy's sister's 9-month-old daughter Anna Christina Radziwill at Westminster Cathedral, before attending a banquet with the Queen at Buckingham Palace. They returned to Washington D.C. later in the same evening.
