Footnote
This one-off, unique sculpture was part of Gromit Unleashed, a ground-breaking public charity art trail led by Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal and Aardman Animations, in which 80 giant artist-decorated fibreglass sculptures of Gromit were displayed on the streets of Bristol and the surrounding area between 1st July and 8th September 2013, with Hound Dog by Sir Peter Blake being featured at Arnolfini Arts, Bristol's International Centre for Contemporary Arts.
As people descended on Bristol in search of these Gromits, the local media reported on the use of a new word "Gromiting", being used on social media sites, to describe the quest for these sculptures.
At the end of the art trail, the sculptures were put up for auction to raise funds for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children's Hospital Charity.
Each Gromit was individually designed and decorated by a range of artists, designers and celebrities, including Sir Peter Blake, Joanna Lumley, Trevor Baylis and Jools Holland. The Royal Mint and mosaic artist Stephanie Roberts created a special Royal Mint Gromit, decorated with coins and US Animation studio Pixar contributed Gromit Lightyear, based on their character Buzz Lightyear.
Combining two of Britain's greatest creative minds and complete with his Certificate of Pedigree, Hound Dog presents a rare chance to acquire a real national treasure.
