This model of the Old Warrior or Tête du Guerrier was modelled circa 1835 by the sculptor François Rude and then cast in bronze and more widely reproduced in cast-iron. This head was one of the central figures in the relief panel created by Rude to commemorate the French Revolution, The Departure of the Volunteers of 1792, located on the Arc De Triomphe Paris.
