Footnotes: In July 1988 Francois Mitterand, the French President, announced his plans to build what was then billed as the 'Worlds most advanced' Library, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. Over 200 architects were invited to pitch for the project with Dominque Perrault's practice winning the commission. Perrault collaborated with Gaelle Lauriot- Prevost to design many of the fittings and furnishings for the interior, inclduing this series of chairs, which also went on sale to the public. The library opened 1996.
