TWO ITALIAN WIREWORK AND PEARL MOUNTED SAINT RELIQUARIES (3)

19th Century
Mounted in silk lined frames, each with central relic, one labelled ‘S.S.M.M. Trevirenfium’, the other ‘S.S.M.M. Maximus’, each with crown above, 38 x 51cm; together with a carved wood crest, depicting various figures, possibly Italian and 18th / 19th Century, 64.5cm wide

Condition report: 

Old worm holes to the sides of the cases. 

Dirt and dust 

Inevitable scuffs, scratches, dents, small chips and marks commensurate with wear, use and age overall.

Some of the wirework bents and mis-shaped and faux pearls and worn. Possibly dating to the late 19th Century. 

The crest with numerous extensive losses: missing two heads arms and feet, tops of the wings and other areas.  Numerous shrinkage splits and cracks. 

Some old repairs. Blackened timber, possibly having been in a smokey environment. Possibly 18th or 19th Century.
