The case of unusual proportions with a brass carrying handle above domed pediment, Greek key and blind fret frieze, above hinged glazed arched door, with a brass carrying handle to each side and pierced oval panel, on ogee bracket feet, the 8in. arched silvered dial signed Jno Crampern, Newark in the arch, flanked to each side by subsidiaries for strike/silent and chime/not chime and with tune selector hand, above Roman chapters and Arabic five-minute ring, pierced blued steel hands and date aperture, the three train gut fusée movement, with signed foliate engraved back plate, five baluster-shaped pillars, anchor escapement and hour strike on a bell, with a carillon of sixteen hammers on ten bells

Condition report

The case is in good condition.  Marks and knocks consistent with age and some repairs.  Of a pleasing colour.

The movement has two filled fusée arbour holes on the back plate.  There are various filled and empty holes on the frontplate and obvious re-workings.  One baluster pillar has been removed.  Was previously verge escapement.  The case perhaps associated?
