The Tiger’s eye agate inlaid marble paper weight, with paper label to reverse inscribed ‘Said to be a sample for fireplace at Yattendon Court’.
Yattendon Court, Berkshire was purchased by Alfred Waterhouse RA in 1876 and extended by the architect. It was later completely pulled down in 1925.
Condition report:
Please see extra images of the top of the small pietra dura music box. There is a key. The music mechanism does work but there is no guarantee of it’s working order and a full clean and service is recommended by a specialist.
The box with a few minor scuffs and small dents commensurate with wear and use.
The paper weight with a few small nicks to the edges an corners.
The glass well separates from base. Wear and tarnishing.
The other pieces with inevitable scuffs, scratches, dents, small chips and marks commensurate with wear, use and age.
