The hood with a broken arch flanked by slender fluted upright columns, glazed door and pierced brass grille panel to each side, the trunk with an arched panel door, flanked by quarter-fluted columns, on panelled base and twin stepped plinth; the movement with 7 1/2in arched brass dial, signed on a shaped escutcheon in the arch and flanked by subsidiaries for STRIKE / NOT STRIKE and CHIME ON 12 BELLS / WESTMINSTER CHIMES, pierced spandrels, silvered chapter ring enclosing an engraved design, with seconds subsidiary, blued steel pierced hands, the substantial gauge three train movement with four barrel-shaped turned pillars, screwed at the backplate, deadbeat escapement and maintaining poser, chiming the quarters on a carillon of twelve graduated bells and the hour on a larger bell
