The broken arch hood with glazed panel door, flanked to each side by a fluted canted angle and glazed panel, the trunk inset with a flat-top arched panel door, with fine flame veneer, above a shaped panel base and twin stepped plinth, on bracket feet; the 13in arched brass dial decorated with a painted quintet with three automata musicians, and tune selector hand for six tunes - FAL LA LA / HOME SWEET HOME / MARCH IN ROB ROY / BLUE BELLS OF SCOTLAND / MARINERS HYMN / 104th PSALM, above subsidiaries for STRIKE / NOT STRIKE and CHIME / NOT CHIME, with silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted centre with seconds subsidiary and signature escutcheon engraved Samuel Smith LONDON, with date aperture above the VI, the substantial three train movement with six knopped pillars, playing on a carillon of six bells, striking the hour on a larger single bell, with anchor escapement

With brass flat rod pendulum. Three substantial brass covered weights. Two keys for the door locks.
The clock is in excellent original condition. The case has a good colour and patina with deep luxuriant polish. The movement was working prior to consignment and has been well cared for. The oak seaboard is a replacement.
A superb example of the clockmaker’s craft.
