With serpentine shaped top with gilt-tooled leather writing surface and three frieze drawers, 116cm wide; 62cm deep; 75cm high
Estimate: | £1,000 - £1,500 |
Hammer price: | £1,200 |
Condition report:
General inevitable scuffs, scratches, dents, small veneer chips and shrinkage cracks. Together with some sun fading and marks commensurate with wear, use and age. This includes marks to the leather writing surface; one larger long scuff noted on the additional images.
Gilding to mounts is worn and rubbed, some tarnishing as to be expected. One of the front ram’s head mounts is missing a pin and very slightly loose, easily replaced.
Some veneers are chipped and pinging off a little in the odd place. The most obvious condition issue is a crack to the brass mount to the edge of the side of top - see extra photograph.
The three frieze drawers are mahogany lined, with keys - several associated. Locks look associated with holes and marks, but only visible when inspecting the inside of the drawer lining.
