A EARLY GEORGE III SILVER SALVER

Of shaped circular form, the applied border with cast and pierced decoration, the centre engraved with an armorial, raised on four cast and pierced feet, London 1764, Maker Richard Rugg I, weight 1240 gms

One of the feet is bent, the cast border is broken, the border has not been well applied and may have been done at a later date in order to make the salver more decorative, there is a lion passant mark and a maker's mark R R to the front of the border, the coat of arms engraving is in good condition, the centre pops in and out upon depressing with the thumb. The makers mark to the rim and to the centre are the same. The border has split away from the central panel just above where the hallmarks are at the back.
