The top depicting The Deerstalkers’ Return, After Edward Landseer, the compartmentalised interior with various pieces of mother-of-pearl sewing equipment, lock stamped ‘V.R’, 25cm wide; 15cm high 


Condition report: 

Lid loose with hinges broken on both sides, although an easy repair. 

General light wear and tear as to be expected, including a light surface crackle, some minor rubbed areas of  decoration, small chips to corners of the feet. 

Slight light ring mark to the top of the lid and a light haze to the surface. 


Provenance: Hylda and Lewis Gilbert, Sheldrake Place, London. 


Lewis Gilbert (d.2018), the celebrated film director, producer and screenwriter, best known for his 007 James Bond movies and Alfie.
