A French black marble and gilt-metal ink stand

The rectangular canted base fitted with two cut glass bottles, the covers formed as coiled serpents, centred by a cast model of a Greek philosopher
37cm wide; 25cm. high

Condition report:

- Two large chips to the back right corner and numerous smaller chips throughout the black marble base
- The bronze staff next to the figure has broken off and is missing
- The glass bottles have a few small chips
- The metal plaque to the front is later added
