The teapot of oval form, decorated with a fish and foliate spray, the detachable cover with a flowerhead finial, probably Japanese, unmarked, the napkin ring with pierced decoration, probably Indian or Burmese, combined weight 426 grams

Condition Report

Teapot height 13cm, there are dents to the lower part of the spout and the lower part of the body and around the footrim where the body has been pushed in as a result of heavily placing the teapot down onto a solid surface.  Rushwork to handle starting to wear, few other smaller dents to the body, it is heavily tarnished and would benefit from professional cleaning, there is slight wear to fish scales. the spout looks to be lead soldered into position and is slightly pushed in at the top.  When viewed from the interior, there is evidence of lead solder to both panel borders and to the handle top and bottom, also the spout/  The cover finial is of a threaded post and nut construction, there is a gap around the top panel and the rim of the panel where soldering is incomplete.

the napkin ring would benefit from cleaning, otherwise good.  The napkin ring is also unmarked,
