Condition Report
In our opinion the sauce tureens are decorated at a later date, probably second half of the 19th century. They are however, in good condition, well presented and attractive. As part of the later decorating process, it looks as though one foot has been restored. The more one looks at them, subsequent alterations from their original form become more apparent. Behind the lower part of one of the handles, there is evidence of previous work and the decorative rim on the other sauce tureen loses its form of decoration for no obvious reason. We would recommend personal inspection. When put side by side, one sauce tureen is higher than the other. There are no lids and they are from a deceased estate of Dutch origin. In their original form they would probably have been plain and could well have had lids. There is also an uncertainty as to the age of the figure form handles. It is possible that these also are a Victorian alteration.
