This singular style of case, associated to the Fleet Street workshops of the Rich brothers was popularised in its use by makers such as Mudge & Dutton and John Holmes.
A Thomas Haley from North Walsham in Norfolk, is listed working in Norwich, where he gained his freedom in 1746. He is recorded as working in London from 1753.
Condition report
Two brass cased weights. One pendulum. One crank key. The case is in good original condition. The movement was running prior to consignment and appears clean and well cared for.
