A FRENCH GILT-TOOLED LEATHER FAUX BOOK VANITY TANTALUS OR TOILET BOX

Mid 18th Century and later
Fitted with a pair of Mennecy soft porcelain ‘pots a fards’ or rouge pots and another with D.V to the underside, four facetted glass bottles with gilt stoppers, a smaller tumbler, a papier-mache patch box and three tortoiseshell implements including a paper knife and comb, the interior fitted with a mirror glass and silk lined.

Condition Report:

 Crack to the cover of the large porcelain pot. Tortoiseshell items with smnall chips including one missing tooth to the comb. 

Case with wear to the decoration and some creasing. Part of the interior lining to the cover is loose. 

General wear throughout.
