The broken arched case with a ring carrying handle, above a gadrooned edge, with an arched glazed door below with plain sides, on gadrooned base and four small brass claw feet, with lift out back cover with circular paper maker's label Edwd Smith / Clock & Watch Maker / No. 54 Jervis Street / two doors from Abbey St, / DUBLIN, the 3 3/4in arched dial, signed Edwd Smith / DUBLIN / Invt et Fecit, with blued steel spade hands and central alarm disc, the rectangular plate movement with four turned pillars, tic-tac type escapement, with standing barrel and the alarm train, both wound from the front, the back of dial and corresponding inner edge of back plate with finely cut run to locate and hold a dust cover
