The case of rectangular form, with reeded surrounds above a foliate carved base, a rectangular side door to one side, and a hinged drop to the base, each side with a brass grille behind a bevelled glazed cast-brass bezel, with 12in white-painted dial, signed and with pierced black-painted hands, the substantial chain fusée movement with anchor escapement, hung on a modern black-painted wooden frame
