J & J Gardner, Bell's Wynd, Glasgow, a firm of prolific barometer makers in the 19th Century, was established by John Gardner around 1765.  J & J Gardner became Gardners in 1822, vide, Sir Nicholas Goodison, English Barometers, Woodbridge, 1977, p.324.
